Easter 2015 - Because My Family is Worth It

This year between being so slammed with bakery orders and the new addition to the family it was hard to keep our usual Resurrection Day/weekend routine, so we just learn to be flexible and do what we can.

I love, absolutely love tablescapes.

Our table isn’t always pretty, but on special occasions I like to go the extra mile. Some people may say it’s not worth the extra work but I beg a difference.

Part of our dominion duty on this earth is to make things beautiful. Part of that is making our homes pleasant places and providing good food.

It can’t always be a pleasant place and there are not always home cooked meals, but that should be more the norm than the exception. A pleasant place is more about the atmosphere than anything else.

Why the extra work? Because my family is worth it.

A beautiful table is not my salvation or the salvation of my family, but it is a part of making a home. Making a place that my family will want to come home to. A place that feels like a home, not just a house. I want them to remember that Mom’s heart was for her family and her home. I want them to know that our home is a mission base, first to our own people, because they need to be strong to go out and fight the good fight. Do I fail? OFTEN!!! But it’s OK.

I never want to be known as being a lazy wife, mother or homemaker.

I don’t do these things to earn my righteousness, but I do them because I am righteous (acting in an upright, moral way; virtuous).

Five generations at our table.

This year our Resurrection breakfast turned into a 5 pm brunch on Saturday, which I think will become our new family tradition because of accommodating extended family and the fact that Sunday is worship (this year we had a big fellowship meal at church) and a day of rest. You’ve just got to do what works best at the moment.

Was I tired from the extra work? Yes.

Did I get a little stressed and a bit grumpy? A little, but I pulled it together. :) What good is a pretty table if mom is acting ugly?

Auntie Liv is so in love with baby Jude!

Poor Jude has colic, but he was trying to enjoy the day.

Before our brunch we went to the community egg hunt.

Here is PaPa with his Baby-Girl, Javi.

The key to keeping up with your kids at an event is to dress them in bright colors! ;)

See Peach?

Making mini cupcakes for the egg hunt.

His boy has some great fondant skills!

God is good… all the time.

You have a beautiful family. Love Aunt Liv’s burst of joy look while holding baby Jude. I like to decorate in themes too, it is more work, but the family gets a kick out of it. We did a beach theme during the winter with lots of color to pep grandma up from going too long without sunshine. It did the trick, she still talks about it. We like to go through old vacation photos and rework the dining room to look like places we’ve been. Then we put out all the souvenirs and photos during the meal and relive the experience. So much fun, and it is no cost entertainment! Everyone chips in and we keep the decorations up all week long. I love your encouraging posts.
