The Baker’s Daughter - Positively-Not-Shut

It’s about the time you see Interstate 65 through your positively-not-shut van hatch that you realize the plan is crazy.

Ill thought out.

Poorly conceived.

It’s the disturbing mix of imagination and the whoosh of passing traffic that confirms it all though.

I have a thing about Craigslist, I’m a little addicted, the rush of the negotiation, the high of the find. Sure, I could end up with a stalking psychopath who eventually kills me, but I could also get a chromed out toaster. Really, it could go either way. I try to keep it local but I almost always end up browsing the “view local results” which, might I point out are not local and should be listed as “potential road trip results”.

Pumpkins, Paninis and Pains

So with my first batch of kids we never did Halloween, (and we still don’t) but now that I have matured a little and have another batch of kids…

and GRANDCHILDREN, I realize some things are not worth stressing over.

I LOVED carving pumpkins as a kid so I thought I’d host a ‘fun’ evening for the kids, BIG and small, to carve pumpkins.

Sharing Our Childhood and Family Reunions

We're Still Here

It’s been weeks since I’ve posted, just wanted you to know… we’re still here! Or maybe I should say we’re back! 😉

We spent a couple weeks in upstate New York to introduce the three youngest to more of their family and share our childhood memories with them.

All of these things we hold even more dear because apart from God’s grace these three would have had no family. They’ve never known grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins until God brought us together. He is good!

Little Man Turns 10

Happy 10th birthday to our little man! He fills our life with so much love and laughter! …and noise.

Adoption! I’m glad we took the risk to open our home and heart to this little boy when he was 6. A boy who was insecure, a bit angry and very confused. I can not imagine our life without him.

He is his father’s shadow.

He is a hard worker who rarely complains.

With My Hand to the Plow

Lately I have days that I work until 2-3 am. I hit the bed hardly able to walk (literally). These are usually days that either I have over-committed myself or something has happened that day that puts me way behind.

All of my married life I have had some sort of home industry going on. Cakes and catering for family and friends has been great. I’ve quilted, I’ve done in-home day care, established and directed a church kindergarten, cleaned houses, started this website, written e-books, produced videos… the list goes on. Different seasons of life allowed for different avenues. The main thing was I always wanted my kids with me.

Easter 2015 - Because My Family is Worth It

This year between being so slammed with bakery orders and the new addition to the family it was hard to keep our usual Resurrection Day/weekend routine, so we just learn to be flexible and do what we can.

I love, absolutely love tablescapes.

Our table isn’t always pretty, but on special occasions I like to go the extra mile. Some people may say it’s not worth the extra work but I beg a difference.

Hey Jude!

Thursday night just before midnight the Lord brought our grandson, Joshua Jude, into the world, weighing in at 8.9.

The Lord was so very gracious in many ways through labor and delivery and even before that because last week on his due date we had snow on the ground, which is a big deal for Alabama.

We were even able to celebrate Javi’s first birthday in the snow storm as we awaited Jude’s arrival.

life, learning, working… all intertwined… naturally!

You may have noticed I haven’t been blogging much, or maybe you haven’t.

Our life has gotten so busy, so industrious that the blog is waaaay down on my list of priorities. It’s not because I don’t have anything I want to blog about, actually, I keep saying, “I’m going to write a post about ‘that’ (insert passionate topic), but at the end of the day when I sit down to type, I am so exhausted my brain can not form a sentence.
