And this is why I don’t get to blog very often, buttercream and keyboards are not friends. Here are a some events from the last few months.

Home should be a natural greenhouse for feminine industry, a place for women to thrive in business and still embrace the calling of home life.
Blisters are still made.
Struggle and toil still happen and hearts are still broken.
Income is still earned and bills still paid.
But the rewards are unfathomably greater and the success sweeter.
The women here don’t have time for meaningless gossip and water cooler chats, because they have a foundation of purpose and a far reaching vision. They are more than just wage slaves, they have the freedom to take risk.
When you share a meal with someone, whether it be a gourmet seven-course meal or a burger and fries, it intensifies your relationship.
Eating together binds hearts.
As often as possible, a family should eat at least one meal together each day.
Sitting at the table together over a meal seems to connect us in a way that doesn’t happen in any other situation. This is my favorite time of day, not so much because of the food, but because of the conversation and laughter. It’s not always good, always happy, but we are together and working through issues.
I cut the cake from 3 9″ rounds and a smaller square cake, cutting, stacking and carving until it looked right. I coated it with ganashe before adding the fondant.

Last week I was covered up with cake and cookie orders for Easter. Then I received a last minute request for this cake so I pulled an all-nighter and got it done… because don’t all little girls dream of a Frozen cake?
I promise you, the life of a baker and cake decorator is not easy, but when you see the smile on the customer’s face it makes it worth it!
This year between being so slammed with bakery orders and the new addition to the family it was hard to keep our usual Resurrection Day/weekend routine, so we just learn to be flexible and do what we can.
I love, absolutely love tablescapes.
Our table isn’t always pretty, but on special occasions I like to go the extra mile. Some people may say it’s not worth the extra work but I beg a difference.
If you have been a reader of this blog for any amount of time you know I’m all about family and community. I love gathering people around my table and practicing hospitality.
I find it interesting that there was a table with food and drink in the temple. That one of the sacraments of the Church is around a communion table. Jesus often used the gathering around food to teach and satisfy. One of the last times He spoke intimately with his disciples was around a table.
You may have noticed I haven’t been blogging much, or maybe you haven’t.
Our life has gotten so busy, so industrious that the blog is waaaay down on my list of priorities. It’s not because I don’t have anything I want to blog about, actually, I keep saying, “I’m going to write a post about ‘that’ (insert passionate topic), but at the end of the day when I sit down to type, I am so exhausted my brain can not form a sentence.
Baby Jude (our newest grand-baby) will be here in about 4 weeks and we can’t wait. We are busy sewing and crocheting gifts for him.
Cherish (11), made her new nephew a quilt. This was her first time to use a rotary cutter and quilting rulers. She also got a LOT of practice using the seam ripper. 😉 The quilt was much more difficult than her first one a couple years ago.
I made this cake last weekend for a little 3 year old’s birthday!
It had buttercream icing on a vanilla cake.
The turtles were made of fondant.
Once you learn the basic skills of baking and decorating it is easy to learn new techniques and be more creative and elaborate with cakes.
