Fellowship at the table is not so much about tableware,
the pretty glasses, the flowers, or the candles,
although all of those elements do add to it.
Sharing a meal together is not so much about the food,
how it looks or how it taste,
but that does make it more enjoyable.
But true fellowship, the breaking of bread together is about
the relationships that are shared at the table.
It’s not about the decor or the food, it is about the people!
It is about looking into their eyes and speaking,
even when there are no word spoken.
Saturday night we enjoyed a candlelight dinner under the Super Moon! Between the moonlight and the 24 candles surrounding us on our humble deck, it was just perfect as Nora Jones and Micheal Buble were playing in the background.
After we ate we sang some hymns. It was just one of those sweet, sweet evenings. If you look closely in one of these picture you will see our family comedian, Emma, popping her face in the picture. Her silliness keeps us laughing…most days! Olivia’s joyful, servant attitude provided the food and candles; Jeff’s willingness to eat later that his usual preference and the conversation of the night with Grandma joining us, made an unforgettable memory!
We created something we now call Phone Caroling, it’s like Christmas caroling but you do it via the phone and sing hymns. We called our son Josh who is working in another state; we sang to him his favorite hymn, it was so sweet to include him at our table even though he was 300 miles away. Then we called a couple other families…I’m sure they all think we’re nuts, but at least no one hung up on us.
We even talked about doing this every full moon…wouldn’t that be a fun family tradition?!
Whether it be a fancy meal in the candlelight
or a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich on a paper plate,
it is the relationships that matters.
It is the time of day to stop everything,
to GIVE THANKS,
and not only nourish your body,
but to connect with your people and refresh your relationships.

I agree! Love that picture of your girl popping her head in.. haha! We love to laugh around here, too.
That is one of my favorite hymns to sing, by the way. The words are wonderful and the melody is amazing. Glad you had such a nice night.

What beautiful candlelight photos! Sounds like you had an excellent time.
I agree that Fellowship is so important…been wishing we had more couple friends to spend time with.
Visiting from Centsational Girl’s Picnic & BBQ Party. Hope you’ll stop by my blog to say hi too.
