About Making Dinner Rolls and Making Money

making dinner rolls and making money

A few months ago I attended a Food Entrepreneurs Conference, in preparation of our commercial kitchen, it was GREAT! At the conference Patricia Barns, of Sister Schubert’s dinner rolls, was the keynote speaker. She was wonderful and had an incredible testimony. Her love of the Lord and family and orphans left me in tears and speechless.

I never buy cookbooks any more, everything is free online, who doesn’t love Pinterest? But after I heard her speak I got in line to buy her cookbook Celebrations of the Heart. I was not disappointed when I read in the back of the book that all of the profits go to ALS research. The book is beautiful and filled with do-able family recipes with ‘normal’ ingredients and gorgeous pictures!

With My Hand to the Plow

Lately I have days that I work until 2-3 am. I hit the bed hardly able to walk (literally). These are usually days that either I have over-committed myself or something has happened that day that puts me way behind.

All of my married life I have had some sort of home industry going on. Cakes and catering for family and friends has been great. I’ve quilted, I’ve done in-home day care, established and directed a church kindergarten, cleaned houses, started this website, written e-books, produced videos… the list goes on. Different seasons of life allowed for different avenues. The main thing was I always wanted my kids with me.

A Place for Women to Thrive in Business

Home should be a natural greenhouse for feminine industry, a place for women to thrive in business and still embrace the calling of home life.

Blisters are still made.

Struggle and toil still happen and hearts are still broken.

Income is still earned and bills still paid.

But the rewards are unfathomably greater and the success sweeter.

The women here don’t have time for meaningless gossip and water cooler chats, because they have a foundation of purpose and a far reaching vision. They are more than just wage slaves, they have the freedom to take risk.

1 Way Grown Stay-at-Home Daughters Make Money

Olivia has decided to make coupon/deal shopping for our family her part time job. The thing about a job is that you have to be committed, you have to do it even if you don’t ‘feel’ like it. I have shopped the deals from time to time, and there really is no excuse for why I don’t do it now, other than TIME. But if I were on Facebook less and surf the deals more I could make it work (there is today’s confession).

Three Keys to a Successful Family Economy

1. Define Success

You must first know where you are going before you can start in that direction, otherwise you’ll run in circles and probably end up where you started…confused.

Some people have huge goals, others just want to get through the day. Some people want to be wealthy so they do not have to work, some want to be wealthy so they can give to the needy. Some people want to be famous and respected. It all boils down to how you define success.

Be Heard and Make Money!

Everyone is an expert on something!

Have you ever been told you should write a book based on something you know, or maybe about an experience you’ve had?

Do you have a point of view that you are passionate about and you want your voice to be heard?

Does writing a book seem unrealistic because of the time commitment, or because of your poor writing skills or because getting a contract with a publisher seems too far out of reach?

Selling Handiwork and Baked Goods?

A question from one of our readers:

My daughter and I want to start a website that we would use to sell
handmade items. But I was also thinking about selling baked good locally.

Can you offer any tips?

Thanks so much!

My reply:

To be real honest, it is HARD to sell handmade items online. If you are
wanting to make more than a few dollars here and there it probably won’t
be with handmade items. You would have to find an item or items that are
unique; and then the whole marketing thing is HARD! I’m not trying to rain
your parade, but I’m just being honest. :o)
