Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

Pictures from the Rag Quilting Class

Today’s Domestic Class was Rag Quilting. The girls did a great job!

It’s WONDERFUL when moms lend a helping hand!

Mia is ALWAYS excited to sew something…anything!!!

Although her attention span in not very long and her mom had to help her a lot, her mom realizes the importance of encouraging her without frustrating her with too many details and perfectionism. When Mia gets distracted Mom steps in to help. The important thing is that she is nurturing a desire to sew/quilt.

The girls learned how to save time and thread by strip piecing their blocks.

No one was able to finish their rag quilt today, but they will have no trouble finishing it up at home in a couple of hours. Can’t wait for them to send pictures of their finished quilts.  I’ll share them with all of you when they do!

Here is my Rag Quilt Tutorial.

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17
