Real love is… MY VALENTINE!

I love my Valentine!

He is not one that will write romantic poetry,

although he does come up with rhymes are that are ‘kinda’ funny!

He is not big on giving, nor receiving, gifts wrapped in boxes and bows,

but he’ll work from morning till night to let his love be known.

He always speaks kindly of people, giving them the benefit of the doubt,

always looking for a way to help others out.

Real love is… Part 2

Something special happens when people eat together, their hearts bond in a way that does not happen in any other circumstance.

Roses from my Sweetheart!

Sharing a meal together is an act of trust.

When someone prepares a meal for you it is a token of their love.

Do you know we will one day sit at a great feast with the Lord?

Tonight we had our family’s Valentine dinner.

Paper Heart Chains and Popcorn Feeders

When I was a kid in school I loved art class…and music class.

I remember when I first learned how to make paper chains for Christmas, maybe I was in kindergarten? We connected our chains with that nasty paste. Transparent tape sure does make chains easier!

This week Emma and I had a few little friends over for a Valentine’s Day Tea and a craft time. Kids are so funny, you just never know what they’ll say!

Valentine Cupcake Ideas and Candy Hearts

To add a special touch to a cupcake you are make some candy hearts from almond bark, or chocolate chips.

I made these today:

Melt some bark in a double boiler, then add some paste color.

Spoon the melted bark into a pasty bag just like you would cake icing.

Wrap a dish towel or dishcloth around the bag because it will be warm/hot. Pipe out some hearts with a #3 round tip onto some wax paper or freezer paper. Be sure to wash your bag and tip as soon as you finish, because as soon as the bark hardens it will be hard to clean them.

A 30 Day Challenge for Wives

In the spirit of sharing the love this month (Valentine’s Day), how about we focus on giving rather than expecting? Expect no flowers, no card, no candle light. Instead, focus on giving, especially to your husband, and expect nothing in return.

The amazing thing about giving, if you give with the pure motive of love and not to manipulation (getting your way), is that you can be fulfilled and content just knowing you gave your all. Don’t look to the recipient for fulfillment, but look to Christ. If you know you have done your best, with God’s help, then you have little reason to feel offended, neglected or angry.

The Bride

I saw this commercial today.

It reminded me how Christians are the bride of Christ.

While the lost world has their eyes on us (what we say, what we do, how we look),

we have our eyes on Christ.

I never thought about it this way before.

Be careful, you are the only Bible some people read!

How to Bake a Big Cookie

I made these for Valentines Day for a couple special people

(no one in this house since we are trying to cut out sugar).

Use an 8″ heart cake pan, round will work good if it’s not Valentine’s Day. ;o)

Make a batch of your favorite cookie dough, this one is chocolate chip.

Press in into the pan about a 1/2 inch deep.

You don’t want it too think because it will not bake evenly.

The Best Valentine Gift

I confess, smiling does not come easy for me. Not because I am not happy (because I AM!), but smiling takes effort on my part. Have you ever noticed that some people just seem to always have a smile, a pleasant countenance? Oh, how I wish I were more like that, but I’m not.

For me, I have to seriously work at smiling, especially to my children and husband (sad confession- I know). I feel like I am always thinking about what needs to be done next. One thing I need to do more of is…SMILING!
