Easy Hand Stitching for Children

Using a pencil and a piece of fabric I drew out some simple freehand patterns for my two youngest to hand-stitch. I was pleasantly surprised that 4 year old Peachy-girl did such a great job. I had to go back and help her once, but after that I left her alone and came back to a finished project! I couldn’t believe it!

Not everyone is a natural at things like this. Her older sister has to work at it a more than she does. I can’t wait to see what she creates in he future.

Learning the Water Cycle - Easy Unit Study

One of my best friends needed a hand so I offered to take her kids for the day, 7 of her 10. My hat goes off to all you homeschool moms of many…I’m pooped!

We started our day out with a days of creation project, but I don’t have pictures of that!

I planned a day of learning about the water cycle.

Lots of crafts and YouTube videos.

We did this little craft learning about the types of clouds.

How to Make Pumpkins That Will Last Forever

I love pumpkins and I love decorating for fall.

But I do hate buying pumpkins that only last a month or two.

Jeff used some scrap lumber he had laying around and cut these for me, and then drilled a hole. The stem is from a broken shovel handle… because we throw nothing away. 😉 You could use a tree branch for a stem too.

This patch of pumpkins is made from 4×4’s. I used regular craft paint and the shading is natural because the paint soaks into the wood pretty good. The more ‘weathered’ the wood the more ‘shading’ there is. I hot glued some fake moss to the tops and added a raffia bow. A burlap bow would be good too.

Fall Wreath - Dried Flowers

I took some dried hydrangeas and stuck them in a grapevine wreath. I left the stems long enough to twist into the wreath, you could use some floral wire if you need to. or even hot glue them in.

Then I spray painted it and let it dry.

And then added a strip of burlap and a bow.

What are your favorite fall decorations?

How to Make a Burlap Flag

I saw how to make these on Pinterest, the picture actually linked to this Facebook Page.

It only took me about 20 minutes to make. This one is only 1/4 yard wide, next time I will make it a little wider. My applique isn’t the greatest… so don’t judge. 😉

You simply fold over the burlap on the top to make a sleeve for your rod.

Applique whatever you want on the front, I just freestyle cut the B out.

Fiber Arts Monday - Handmade Dolls

It’s middle of the summer but we have our mind set towards fall as we prepare for our county fair. If you’ve read this blog long you know we are big into our fair! Now with new kiddos in this house we have more hands making things to enter! This week I want to get Cherish on a handmade doll and Hayden on some sort of woodworking project.

Here are some tutorials we’ll be choosing from:
