Basic Cake Decorating

One baked cake, any size, 9×13 is best, yellow is easiest.
1 bag 10x Sugar
1 or 2 featherweight pastry bags (Wilton brand is best)
Tips: # 3, #104, #352, #18 ( 16 or 21 will work too for an #18)‘
A mixer, hand or stand
Rag Quilting

Soap Making

If you are making a batch of soap bring:
Rubber gloves for at least one person in your family.
A large pot that is not aluminum.
Glass measuring cup
Wooden spoon and plastic spatula
If you think you will want to make this at home go ahead and buy a stick blender ($15) and bring it, it will save you a lot of time!
Bottle of essential oil, the type that is safe for soap.

2 yards 100% cotton- a mixture of different colors/patterns. Use scraps if possible.
2 yards 100% cotton for backing
Throw/crib size batting
Thread, pins, needles

Optional: quilting rulers, rotary cutter and mat.
Kitchen Sewing

Make 2 hanging dish towels, a bag to hold your plastic grocery sacks and cloth napkins.
This is a good class for beginners.
Fee: $5 per person or $15 per family

(French seams are a great technique to know for all kinds of sewing,
especially when making skirts.)

1 yard of fabric for slipcover (this can be a half yard of 2 fabrics or 1 yard of the same fabric), a pillow to cover
2 yards for pillowcases, and 1/2 yard of contrasting color, 1/4 yard of a third color. You can use all of the same color just to learn with (an old sheet would work for this).
