How to Build a Family Economy - Lilla Rose
Spending as much time as possible with my three children has always been a top priority for me. From the beginning of our parenting adventures, we have found creative ways to save and earn that still allowed me to forgo traditional full time employment.
We have earned extra money doing various online jobs (including blogging at Raising the Barrs), and I have done some in-home childcare. But by far, the most profitable business endeavor I have undertaken has been selling Lilla Rose hair jewelry.
A couple of years ago, I noticed that many of my favorite bloggers were reviewing Flexi Clips and saying how much they adored them. While they looked interesting enough to enter giveaways for the chance to try one out, I just couldn’t believe they were as amazing as everyone said. I was intrigued by the design (they are made with music wire – like piano strings), and they sure were pretty, but frugal me thought that $14 for a hair clip was kind of ridiculous.
Unfortunately, I didn’t end up winning any of those giveaways, but as my hair grew longer I decided I needed to get my hands on one. Still not wanting to pay full price for a clip, I contacted the Lilla Rose office and asked if there was a consultant near me that might let me host a party to earn free items.
Best.Decision.Ever. Not only did I end up LOVING every item in the Lilla Rose catalog, the Independent Consultant who came out to do my party was an amazing woman who valued many of the same things as me and had absolutely wonderful things to say about the integrity of the company overall.
Long story short, I signed up to be an Independent Consultant with Lilla Rose over a year ago now and it has been such a fun family-friendly way to earn an income! My three and five year old children help me count inventory and have their own “expert” opinions on which styles look best in which hair types. And my baby boy (born on Independence Day 2012!) comes with me to every show and party. I wear him on the front and can still use my hands to demonstrate hairstyles in the back!
We recently moved from Kansas City to Juneau, ALASKA and I had to build up my customer base from scratch again. Lilla Rose hair jewelry really is such a high quality product – that can be used by so many women (with any hair type or length!) - that it almost sells itself. Working at fairs and doing fundraisers in addition to home parties has helped me make some wonderful friends in just a short amount of time. I love that my children see me being productive and social, and I love that the extra money coming in gives me the opportunity to bless others.
