Valentine Cupcake Ideas and Candy Hearts

To add a special touch to a cupcake you are make some candy hearts from almond bark, or chocolate chips.

I made these today:

Melt some bark in a double boiler, then add some paste color.

Spoon the melted bark into a pasty bag just like you would cake icing.

Wrap a dish towel or dishcloth around the bag because it will be warm/hot. Pipe out some hearts with a #3 round tip onto some wax paper or freezer paper. Be sure to wash your bag and tip as soon as you finish, because as soon as the bark hardens it will be hard to clean them.

Let them cool and harden for a couple hours. Make more than what you think you’ll need in case some break when you peel them off the paper.

Stick them in the icing, or just serve them alone. :).

Wow! Great idea! Let me ask you something: You know how cupcakes are all the rage now and there are full shows dedicated to them, ect.? Well across the board, they have this very thickly piped frosting (it appears that way anyhow). How do you do that? I’ve never seen a tip that would be nearly that thick.
Here is an example (not the best one, but it’ll do):
