Wrapping Up 2010
December 30, 2010
I hope you are all enjoying your last week of 2010. I am!!! Olivia has been home for the week and I think I will keep herĀ here and not let her go back to her station as the governess, life is so much easier when she is at home! ;o)
Yesterday, she made us chicken cordon blu, it was wonderful! Then last night Emma baked some peanut-butter cookies, which we enjoyed warm from the oven, with a glass of milk while we watched a video cuddled under quilts. Good thing we did our hour at the gym first!
Yesterday, we also started painting the living room. It is SO MUCH EASIER when there are three of us (me, Olivia and Emma) moving things, painting, cleaning, etc… Today I will finish up the trim work…I HATE painting trim, while the girls get started on some MUCH NEEDED yard work. I’d love to get the kitchen painted too, but that may need to wait.
As we work on these projects we are purging our home of a lot of stuff, stuff that slows us down. Living with less really does make life easier. The less you have to dust, clean, organize, repair, etc… the more time and energy you can have to create something, be productive or simply enjoy each other. We even paid someone to come remove a big flowerbed with his Bobcat because it is too much work to maintain it. With less people living at home now I cannot keep it up, there are more important things for me to be doing than yard work all the time. Jeff could not care less about flowers, so away it went! I will mostly have container flower beds now.
While I am working on these projects I’ve been reflective about this past year, thinking about the times I’ve messed up and God has been merciful to me, hoping that I will not repeat the same offense again. I’ve been thinking about the goals I had set for myself that I did not accomplish and how I can improve on that.
I love the last week of the year. It is a special time to retreat mentally and get my priorities back on track.
With some fresh paint on the walls, less stuff in the house and the yard looking better I’ll be ready to hit 2011 running!
Now this is my idea of a Christmas break!
