I love this idea. I'm a little slow though. If it's possible, I'd like to get a closer look and understand how they're put together. Thanks!

How did you hang these? I found some great fabric to use and want to give it a try, but I have no idea how you installed them. Thanks. :)

I use old duvets on my windows. No they dont look great in the bedroom but I dont mind that because it sure cuts down on the AC. In the living room I hang duvets during the winter and just clip a piece of nice fabric over the front. It is bulky but it sure keeps us warm in winter and cool in summer. Feathers are awesome in heating and cooling. I could cut the duvets to a more manageable size if I find the time.

OK...I must just need help as I cannot figure out how you put these together. I love the ideas as I really do not want to turn on the AC and would love to keep the heat off longer in the winter. So could someone help me out here to better understand what you are doing?

I've also made window quilts for some of my windows (the ones on the south & west side of our home AND the older, yet to be replaced, drafty windows). I used old, very battered towels as insulation between the front & back fabric. Not only do they help block the hot sun on the west & south sides of our home in the summer, they also help keep the heat in during winter nights.

Some of my best fabric buys were curtains at the thrift store.

Our Ac is already on! (Hot flashes!:o) I do want to run it as little as possible and utilize other ways to keep the bill down. The bottom line though is that the heat/ac makes the bill go up dramatically!

I really like that idea. DH thinks we should have the air way down. I set it on 74 and he's still hot. The cost is going up up up! Can't afford to pay a whole lot on something that years ago wasn't necessary at all! Plus, I stay cold so we're really the opposites! LOL

Thanks for the pictures.

Hugs,
