Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

Week in Review 6/1/12 Cook Outs, More Car Trouble, Humor

Last weekend we had a fabulous time at a huge cookout with folks from church at the Huies, these people know how to fellowship!

I didn’t get too many pictures because I was busy fellowshipping, ;) but here is one of Jeff (right), our son Josh (middle), and Kelly’s husband, Aaron.

Samantha, the young girl Olivia was a governess for came to spend the weekend. We’ve missed her so much!

Before

Saturday morning Olivia, Emma, Cherish and Samantha tackled the nasty H.O.T job of scraping and painting the back side of the Sav-a-Life building.

After

Here is the finished project. Good job girls!

Summer is here and so is the need to be near water!

The girls are both so good about taking the kids to the lake.

I’m so thankful that our older kids understand and embrace the importance pouring into others.

I’m so thankful they understand that it takes all of us to be a family for these kids,

and it’s not just mom and dad’s responsibility.

Jeff managed to revive his old Ford pick-up truck, which we thought was a goner.  Then Wednesday our van decided she needed some T.L.C… she is parked for a while. I told the kids I’m waiting to see how God is going to answer this need. lol…  I’m sure being at home a lot we will get a lot done and spend less money; being down to one vehicle can be a good thing!!! right?

Humor at Our Home

Mom: “Why did Jesus descend into Hell?”
Cherish: “He had some business to do with Satan.”

——-

Hayden at dinner:
“Wow LIV! This is good, I’ve never had burrrrrnt squash before!!!” (It wasn’t burnt, it was saute’-ed!)
Followed shortly by:
“I bet Emma could eat her WHOLE corn… but she won’t cause she doesn’t like the bone (cob)…”

——-

Emma moans loudly from the livingroom.
Mom yells from her room: “Are you okay?”
Emma: “I need a man.”
Mom still in the other room: “No! You need the Lord.”
Emma: “A FAN! MOM! Not a man.”
Mom: “You still need the Lord. “

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

LOL! I love the humor in your house! We live a few miles from a lake and the kids love to go fishing each weekend. We have not found a good one for swimming in yet but I am sure in time we will find a great swimming hole :)
