Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

Watch and Learn!!!!!!!!!!

This is a WONDERFUL video clip, and talk about resourceful? This woman may have written the book on resourcefulness!

In an age of everything being disposable, even our cars, we could learn a lot from this 89 year old. And girls…you need to know how to take care of your cars just as much as the boys do.

I also love the end where she ‘shows’ why she is not afraid to travel alone! lol… I picture my girls doing something like that! Although they’d gladly wait on anyone to go for a ride with them!

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

Here’s the problem: newer vehicles have “brains” in them that I personally believe are pre-set to go out after a certain number of miles or time. With all the computer junk in our cars, vans, and trucks, it costs more to replace the “brains” than to get another car. My sister just had this done on a car she was so proud to have completely paid for, and it cost her nearly $3,000. I was just telling my husband the other day we should seriously consider an antique for our next vehicle, one that can be fixed with non-computer parts. Then, you have to wonder if there will be any parts available for it. *sigh* We can’t win.
