Tool Drive – Tornado Relief

May 11, 2011

Teaching Good Things is sponsoring a Tool Drive to help some of the families in Shoal Creek Valley, AL, who lost all their tools in the April 27, tornado.

There are a lot of people willing to help rebuild, but tools are scarce.

These families not only need tools to rebuild, but because the live in the country, have animals and work  construction they will need tools even after their homes are rebuilt.

If anyone would like to donate a new or a good used (in excellent working condition) tool it would be greatly appreciated.  You may donate the actual item or if you would like to donate the monies toward an item be sure to designate that on your donation. If you would like to give $5 or $10 towards an item and I’ll post what has been given toward that item.

Please do not donate broken tools, time and money are a big issue, thank you for understanding.

  1. Sandy says:

    Great idea, Kathy!

How about an option for donations to this project? Since tools can be expensive, it might be helpful for folks to go together on some of the bigger things or for things that aren’t otherwise provided.

  2. Kathy says:

Yes, Sandy! I will edit that wording some. Thanks!

  3. Joslyn says:

Hi Kathy, Do you know of any organizations that accepting donations for building supplies (flooring, roofing materials, etc.) to help rebuild schools, daycares, learning centers or hospitals that were damaged or destroyed?

    • Kathy says:

No, I don’t Joslyn, sorry. We are pretty much focusing on residential areas and getting people in their homes. Perhaps checking with the Red Cross or FEMA would be a better way to find out that information.
