Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

Today’s Table – Easter 2011

We had a pretty full Easter weekend with a Good Friday service at church,

then a community egg hunt on Saturday where Emma made balloon animals for the kids,

and then worship on Sunday.

Saturday night Olivia mixed up the cinnamon rolls and

put them in the refrigerator so all I had to do was bake them Sunday morning.

I set the table Saturday night for Sunday,

all I had to do was cut up some fruit while the rolls baked and pour the juice.

I used a clear glass plate on top of our dinner plates and my favorite juice glasses

that my aunt gave me shortly before she passed away.

I only use these glasses for special occasions…I just love them!

Because we are all grown ups now, with my youngest being 17, I have quit doing baskets and lots of candy.

This year everyone woke up to a little nest (made of raffia) at their place setting

with a little chocolate bunny, a peep and malted eggs.

(Olivia surprised me and my mom with a big chocolate bunny.)

The irises came from our yard, purple is a fitting color for Easter!

After breakfast we just cleared away the glass plates and juice glasses

and everything was ready for dinner.

For dinner I kept it pretty simple; ham, beans, carrots, potatoes and rolls (yes, store bought rolls …shame, I know!).

But it wasn’t the pretty table that really mattered…

but the people gathered around the table!

I have to include this picture because it pretty much sums up our daughters.

Can you tell which one is full of it all the time?

Friday night Emma had me laughing so hard on the way home from church I could hardly drive!

Not only did we enjoy worship with our church family on Sunday morning,

but we also took part in the baptism of Jax!

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17
