“This Ain’t Normal Folks”

November 10, 2011

The other night we watched Forks Over Knives, a documentary about choosing more of a plant based diet for life. It gave some great information about studies connecting the typical American diet (high meat, dairy and sugar) with such high cancer and heart disease rates.

About a year and a half ago Emma and I started juicing. Sometimes we are real consistent with it, then ‘fall of the wagon’ for a while and then get back on. We like to juice during the day and eat supper together with Jeff, which will include a big salad. I’ve lost 45 pounds and Emma 40 pounds; we also go to the gym 3-5 times a week. When we juice consistently there is a real difference in our energy levels and overall attitudes. Hallelujah Acres is a great resource site.

As we change the way we think about education for our kids, family life, home business and just all round being more self sufficient, we have to consider how we take care of our health too. We need to get back to the basics is all areas of life.

Again, the more we can do for ourselves the better off we will be. We need to be knowledgeable and skilled.
Something to think about:

I look forward to reading this book, This Ain’t Normal Folks.

Kathy, My husband and I are about half way through reading Mr. Salatin’s latest work and thoroughly enjoying it. He’s been a real inspiration for us in our attempts to transform and take dominion of our small acreage so we can live off our land.

    Blessings, ~Lisa :)
