The Purpose of Celebrating
November 25, 2008
This Thanksgiving our family is experiencing a heartache, but we (I) need to remember that God heals our wounds. He has it all under control and we need to wait for our prayers to be answered (they ARE answered even while we wait). Until then, we count our blessings. Remembering that life is not about us and our comfort, but it is all about living in a way that glorifies Christ.
Let us not be like the people spoken of in Jude:
Jude 1:12
They feast with you without any sense of awe.
They are shepherds who care only for themselves.
May we never lose our sense of awe of the marvelous works of God.
Be thankful! Take your thoughts captive and think on things that are good and right and just! Don't get caught up in self pity, anger or fear.
Feast with a grateful heart this week, even if it is with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and you are alone. It's not just about the food, it's about the spirit you eat it with!

Amen! I have had to be reminding myself of this very thing in recent times. Thank you for the timely post.
