This afternoon we have been working on our baked goods for the county fair.
Every year I say I’m going to start early on my fair projects, and every year I am scurrying around the day before finishing things up. It’s the curse of being a procrastinating visionary.
My taste tester!
As my cinnamon rolls were baking and the house filled with the sweet yeast aroma, Aaron comes in and tells me how much he LOVES that smell. He said it reminds him of his first day in our home, the first day of his new life.
We make cinnamon rolls about 2-3 times a year, usually during the holidays or if we have house guest. They are a treat not a staple.
Aromas are important. They help us identify memorable experiences, good and bad. When my kids are grown and out I want them to remember home in a good way when they smell cinnamon rolls. When they smell turkey and stuffing I want them to remember our home on Thanksgiving Day, gathered around the table with family.
