I have 6 boys--4-20, and on any given day about 3 more neighborhood children, so I am always getting interrupted and have a hard time staying focused enough to finish projects. In fact, after I typed in my name on this entry, my 8 year old asked me to fix the broken zipper on his zip-off shorts. I do projects with the boys, but I wish I had a daughter to sew, cook and embroider with. Interruptions are the most difficult thing about handiwork projects.

My girls have loved learning a skill like crocheting. The hardest thing is finding the time, but they like to do it while listening to books we are "reading" for school on cd.

I love all different kinds of needlework. Learning about it through books and video is the next best thing to doing it. I would say that the hardest part is finishing. I have so many beautiful projects that are not finished. I sometimes get a little discouraged until I think about all the things I HAVE finished. Like the baby blanket gifts for friends or the new shorts for granddaughters. It is a lifelong enjoyment for me, I hope, as long as my hands and eyes don't give out!
