Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

The Excitement of the First Vote!!!

Anyone who knows Olivia knows she has a passion for politics/government. Ever since she was little she has had this desire for justice and what was “right” and what was “wrong”.  I have always listened to conservative talk radio when I was driving, even when she was little, so current events and politics were often the topic of conversation (still are!), although my other children do not have the passion for the topics as Olivia does. Personally, I think it is something special God gave her.  She has a desire to see government operate as it should as stated in the Constitution… boy, do we have a long way to go!

She believes in FREEDOM and LIBERTY!

She loves to take on candidates and discuss important issues.

She was even asked to present her 4-H speech, Why Young People Should Care About  Politics and Government, to the County Republican meeting a few years ago.

She missed being able to vote in 2008 by ONE day (wonder who she would have voted against??? O? )! So she was really excited to be able to vote today! It was a really BIG DEAL and I had my camera- because all of life is a blog post ya know?!

She proudly took her ID in to be verified…

and… and…

AND…

ANNNND…

her name was not there!

These ladies (who are all our neighbors – I love small town life!) kept looking for her name…

they then sent her over to another lady and she called to see if she was registered…

they didn’t even have her listed for our state.

She was NOT a happy camper voter!

(Note her “I Voted” sticker.)

I don’t know who felt worse…her or us for her?

Needless to say, she will be at the courthouse this week and get THAT straightened out!

Never take your freedom and responsibility to vote lightly!

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

    That stinks! Poor dear!

I was so disappointed when I registered for my license in our new state. I had to say that I did not have to transfer my registration to vote because I still only have my green card. Another year….
