Sunday Reflections

August 23, 2009

Life is tough! Sometimes there seems to be so many more hard days than good days, but  we know God orchestrates all of them for our over all good!

Yesterday was the memorial of one of the sweetest women I have ever known. I don’t know why God took her at 53 years of age, I don’t know why a young girl will grow up without her mom, but I do know that God is good. I also know that our life here is just a blink in all of time. I do know that I will see my friend before long and spend eternity with her. For that I am thankful!

Today we experienced a perfect day weather wise here in the deep south; it definitely had a hint of fall in the air!

It was also a day with just our family at the dinner table, having our traditional Sunday pasta and sauce, just me, Jeff and our kids. These days are becoming more and more precious to me.

It was a very sweet atmosphere this afternoon. After lunch we wandered out to our picnic pavilion and enjoyed each others company on the swings and rockers, snapping a few pictures. I really wanted time just to stop and soak in the day; to soak in the laughter of my husband and children.

Our children become adults before we know it; they develop their individual lives, needing us less. The days of being ‘just us’ are becoming less frequent. We practice hospitality quite a bit and I look forward to days with in-laws and grandchildren, but for right now, I want to CHERISH every moment when it is just us!

Then a bunch of silliness!
