Quilts – One Way to Remember

August 28, 2009

I received a phone call for a lady who wanted a quilt made from her cheerleader uniform, pieced together with the uniforms from her children and grandchildren.

This was her uniform from over 50 years ago, HEAVY wool with a silk lining.

Oh my, how uniforms have changed!

Not near as much fabric to work with nowadays!

So it is not the prettiest quilt, but it is special to this grandmother.

All the fabric is from the uniforms, except for the backing. I was able to use some of the wool for the black border and the gold, silk lining for the binding.

This is such a great idea.

I am saving our favorites of our children’s cloths for just this purpose! Additionally I saved 3 of my favorite maternity blouses to go into these too!

Love Emma’s nose at the top of the quilt. :OP
