Yes, that is one of the smaller cans of pumpkin.

We had a strange vine/veggie come up out back deck this year. The vine was AMAZING and huge. It grew something that looked like a zucchini, but it wasn’t.

We had a “volunteer” pumpkin come up this year! We usually get a few from family that grows them and just sit them on the porch. Sometimes the kids like to paint on them. This year my youngest wanted to carve one so we let him pick the “volunteer” and carve it. He did a wonderful job.

Am I right in assuming that is one of the smaller cans of pumpkin in that recipe?

I don’t have a pumpkin story but would like to be entered in the giveaway for the beautiful potholders. We usually grow our own pie pumpkins but this year some critter kept eating the plants so we only ended up with one pumpkin!

We usually get a lot of pumpkins and let the kids decorate them. We do not carve them, because after we do I cut them up puree them and freeze them. We dry the pumpkin seeds for a yummy snack. I am going to try the muffin recipe later today.

Every year I take our pumpkins, cut them up and freeze it. I LOVE having pumpkin throughout the year. We make pumpkin pies for the holidays, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin butter, the list just goes on!
I get great joy out of being able to bake and share with our family and neighbors…to me it makes the holidays that much more special to be able to share something that was created at home and not some store bought item.
My kids are excited to know that I am trying your muffin recipe with chocolate chips!! My kids LOVE chocolate!!!!

One of my favorite memories is of carving pumpkins with my toddler several years ago. He scooped out some of the ‘yuck’ in his hands, looked at it, and with wonder proclaimed ‘Wocks! Wittle White Wocks!’ He then proceeded to throw his ‘rocks’ across the table with glee.

We love to make dried pumpkin seeds in the over and lightly salt them. It is a healthy snack for us and they are really great. The potholders are just gorgeous, please enter me.

Have made very similar to these with spice cake mix for several years. Will need to try the German Chocolate now. Had forgotten about using the icecream scoop so thank you so much Dana for the reminder. Would love to have the pattern for the pumpkin potholders. Your blog is incredible and homey!

My pumpkin tip…after carving your pumpkin rub a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the inside of the pumpkin. This will help it last longer and not go so soft and mushy on you. So that jack-o-lantern will look pretty on the porch for much longer than normal.

I made pumpkin bread for the first time today! I’m still learning too. Our largest bowl barely held all the ingredients. My little ones were ready to stir but kept sloshing everything out. We had so much fun we didn’t care.

You can take we be little pumpkins (the tiny ones that look like pie pumpkins) and cook a meatball in them with a little spaghetti sauce and it tastes FANTASTIC!
We love pumpkin in this house. We add it to cake, muffins, pancakes, oatmeal, and anything else we think we can get away with. We use it place of oil when baking around this time of year. It’s wonderful when added to homemade pancakes (don’t forget to mix in a little pumpkin pie spice) then topped with maple syrup. YUMMMMMMMM!

I LOVE that you are having a pumpkin week! That might just be my favorite week! My kiddos and I are enjoying your site… We’ll be baking tomorrow!

When my now grown daughter was about 4 yrs old, we took her to the grocery store about this time of year. They had a gigantic pumpkin in the store as a display and a bowl to write down your guess of how much that big pumpkin weighed. Well our daughter wanted to guess and she put down the number she wanted. Well, we received a call later that week that her guess was the closest…AND SHE HAD JUST WON A PUMPKIN THAT WEIGHED
OVER 90 LBS. We put it out in the back yard and carved it like a cat, her favorite animal. We will never forget that pumpkin story.

I love the recipe—how easy. We tried pumpkin for the first time last year with our children. Now it has become one of their favorite ingredients. I even use a can of it in carrot souffle in place of the carrots. It gives the same great color—beta carotene—and a fun taste. Thanks too for the giveaway.

A yearly recipe we enjoy for fall is peanut butter ball pumpkins! These are easy & fun to make, but a little time consuming and I lose my helpers midway through, but we all enjoy! We use a regular recipe for peanut butter balls, but put orange food coloring in the mixture! After rolling out the balls, I use a toothpick and make vertical indentations and place a chocolate chip on top. There you have cute little pumpkins! Thanks, Tina
