Plant Markers
May 1, 2009
This is a great project for the kids. It will help with plant identification, they could even write the scientific name on the back.
) This gives a real visual for the plant name and leaf shape/flower every time the kiddos are in the garden.

Break a clay pot, a great use for those cracked pots.

Untwist a wire hanger.

Cut it in half.

Using the wire cutters, curl one end around a few times.

Write the name of the plant on the clay piece,
add the scientific name on the back if you like (let the kids look it up).
Spray with clear spray paint and let dry.
This will keep words from fading and washing off.

Mark your plants.

You could use the whole wire hanger and make more swirls to make your wire more decorative.

Hello Mrs. Brodock!
That is a neat idea! It would be great for labeling a plant gift or a decoration in a flower pot.
WOW! What a great idea, Kathy. I just found a bunch of those old pots, mostly chipped, in our barn.
They would be good for Bible verses on them too or garden quotes.
Love, love, love this idea! Thanks, Robin
love this!
I love this idea. We’ve moved to a house out in the country and I can hardly wait to get my garden started. Since we live in Texas, it’s almost too late to start a spring garden but my goal is to have the garden plot ready to plant a fall garden.
This spring I want to get my herbs started in individual pots. These plant markers will work great for the herbs.
I always see a lot of clay pots at garage sales so that will be a handy resource.
Oh, I love spring!
Kindest regards,
Susan
Do they still make wire hangers????
Dana
I grab up wire hangers from yard sales.
) A lot of people still get dry cleaning done.
