Peace and Happiness
May 1, 2009
"It is neither wealth nor splendor,
0 but tranquility and occupation, which give happiness."
~Thomas Jefferson
True tranquility can only come from God, it’s called Peace. We all have a void in our lives that can only be filled with God. Peace comes from knowing that God is in control of everything, this is called sovereignty. Not one hair falls from our head without God knowing. Peace comes form knowing that God works ALL things for OUR GOOD and His glory, even when we don’t understand. Peace comes from obeying His commands (we don’t make up our own rules) and from the freedom that comes with forgivness.
Occupation is more than your job, it is your purpose in life. Your job may fund your purpose/ministry. Your identity, who you are, can not be wrapped up in what your job is. Your job/career is the means for your purpose, and often they can be intertwined! This is what gives happiness. This is why we encourage entrepreneurship. This is why so many reach their 40s and are unhappy and unfulfilled. They just work a job without understanding their purpose.
And make sure you don’t confuse the "right to happiness" with the "right to PURSUE happiness"…big difference! No one has the right to happiness, but we all have the responsibility to pursue it!
Are you encouraging your children to pursue happiness, to know Peace?

Well written article on happiness. Please allow me to add my view on happiness. Happiness is knowing the Holy Spirit is leading you in performing righteous acts not for the purpose of just doing righteous acts but for the purpose of performing acts of kindness to those less fortunate. These days I receive my happiness from the little things in life like listening to others when they need and ear, providing support to someone down on their blessings, putting aside busy things I like to do to make time for what God has charged me to do through His spiritual gifts. When we pursue our spiritual gifts according to God’s plan, He will open doors that were previously locked.
God Bless
