Organic Gardens in Jeopardy
May 11, 2009
It seems like everyday I hear something on the news that just leaves me shaking my head and wondering what will come of us as a nation.
Most of you have probably already heard about HR 875. This is ANOTHER piece of legislation that is just CRAZY! ANOTHER case of the government stepping in where they should not. We LOVE our local farmer’s market, the deals and the people make it a special experience each time. There are several family owned, road side vegetable stands that make fresh produce so convenient. Plus we love supporting LOCAL farmers/families. If this bill passes it could end all of this as we know it.

Wow that’s scary. And we just ordered 51 fruit trees to start a small orchard. Plus our vegetable garden and some berry bushes. We need to keep an eye on this.
Grrr! Free country? I think not!
Need to keep an eye on this? With the utmost respect, I beg you to do more than “keep an eye on this”. Please contact your congressman and senators TODAY. Tell them you are opposed to HR 875. Ask him/her vote NO to any and all legislation associated with the Food Safety Modernization Act.
If this bill becomes law, please be assured that in due time a federal agricultural inspector WILL begin inspecting AND heavily fining your local back yard gardeners for non-compliance.
