My Husband is a Clean Picker
July 16, 2009
…and boy am I glad!!!
We have two blueberry bushes that produce a lot of berries. Since our girls have been gone Jeff has had to do all the picking by himself. Every couple days he picks about a gallon.

He does such a GREAT job picking. When he brings in the berries there is rarely a stem or leaf in the bowl. Which makes my job of washing and canning so much easier!!! He’s the best!
I got 11 quarts of blueberries canned last week and we gave away a couple gallons.

I hope I am putting this comment at the right place. I have been canning all week from our garden. It has been years since I canned but we planted a big garden this year so we could save food for the winter. I have canned 21 quarts of green beans, 9 pints of green beans, 44 pints of sweet peas, 7 quarts of peaches, and 14 quarts of dill pickles. WE have more beans and peas in the garden and when these peas are done we will plant more. My okra is just starting to come in and so is the corn, peppers, and cantalope.
We have pumpkins forming on the vine. A few peppers (green peppers and sweet peppers) are almost ready to pick. Our tomato plants look sickly, but they’re producing well. The girls are learning the joy of a warm tomato, eaten warm from the sunshine.
that is incredible! What kind of blueberries are they and how old are the bushes? any special fertilizer you recommend? they look delicious! our blueberries have already been picked and eaten!:) Blessings, jen in al
Wow Kathy, those look scrumptious! I have a couple of garden spots with some big zucchinis, but our tomatoes are still green. Enjoyed the green tomatoes in a green tomato casserole (tastes like fried green tomatoes)! I also planted a lavender plant (for the first time). I am hoping to make some bath products using that.
