My Friend Robin – More Excitment than a Kid at Christmas
July 29, 2010
Last week I was counting my blessings and one of those many, many blessings was my friend Robin. She has more zeal for life than most anyone I know; not just about life, but living a life to the fullest to bring glory to God. She has tapped into the secret of joy and she wants EVERYONE to tap into It too!
Robin is the type that gets excited about living on the edge. She reminds me of a bright-eyed kid at Christmas time who can’t sleep the night before because Santa is coming. She is the one that will remind her siblings, “You better be good so Santa will come!” She is the one who is awake at 4 am on Christmas morning and will run into everyone’s room trying to get them to *wake up* because Santa has left gifts!!! She is excited not only for herself but for everyone else too!
Robin has learned that the secret to joy is to walk faithfully with God. Part of that walking faithfully means that you have to be willing to give your all and take risks. She doesn’t live her life in normalcy and we are all the better for it.
What I love most about Robin is her willingness to be *real*; what you see is what you get! Her sincere honesty runs deep. If you ask her opinion she’ll give it. If you ask her advice, she’ll give it laced with truth and grace because she knows that is what you need, there is no time to play games and mix words. Her love for her Lord oozes out into every area of her life. I have seen her grow in leaps and bounds over the last 5-6 years; she truly is one of the wisest women I know.
Perhaps if the rest of us would live life obediently to Christ, willing to do whatever hard things come our way, we would truly know the depths of joy that she knows. Robin and Scott have been given some hard Providences, but they come out of them singing praises to their Creator!
I heard this song today by Rich Mullins, You Gotta Get Up! What a perfect song for my little tribute to Robin. Her heart is for everyone to GET UP, WAKE UP to what God can do through you. Get excited about life, empty yourself out for the cause of Christ, take risks knowing that He has you in the palm of His hand. Don’t listen to those that have bought into the world’s foolishness, or even worse, complacent Christianity… You Gotta Get Up! You have work to do and God has rich gifts awaiting you!
Read her blog here and be inspired!!!
I have no birth sisters, but if I could choose a blood sister it would be Robin; and what is even better than a blood sister is a spiritual sister. She encourages me and rebukes me when I need it. What a joy to know that God will allow us to be sisters for all of eternity!
