Meet My Youngest Sewing Class
June 1, 2010
Today was the kick off of our summer Domestic Classes. Today’s class was a sewing class where the students made a pillowcase with french seams and a throw pillow slipcover; these are both great beginner projects.
This was one of Alexa’s first times to use the machine and she took off with it!
This class had the youngest girls I’ve taught, which I could not have done it without their moms sitting in and helping them.
This is Mia, she is 6 years old, which is pretty young, but she is so eager to learn to sew!!! With her mom by her side she loved making a pillowcase for her bedroom! I’m still going to come spend the night with you Mia, just so I can use your BEAUTIFUL pillow!
Jamie is 8..and just the sweeetest thing!
If your children show any interest in sewing, no matter how old (or young) they are, encourage them! What is even more exciting for most children is when their parents learn right along side of them, proving to them that learning is a life long adventure!
Johanna is a natural!
Even if your child does not show an interest in an area such as sewing (or any other skill), perhaps exposing them to it and giving them a project they can personalize will ignite a spark of talent in them they didn’t know they had.

Such great photos! I would love to sit in on some of your sewing classes!
Gonna have to research how to do French seams.
Oh Kathy, they all turned out so well. I hate that we missed, we were so looking forward to it; but I know that you guys are glad we didn’t come and share our germs
