Me? On a Fitness Team?

December 5, 2011

I have struggled with weight my whole life, part of it is genetics, but mostly it is my lack of self-discipline. I’ve been up and down in my weight since I was a teenager and I know it will always be a battle, and to be honest, that kind-of makes me want to not even try.

Almost 2 years ago my friend, Robin, shared information about juicing with me. Robin, is one of those that can convince you to do just about anything, some things I would never share publicly! Although juicing is an inconvenience and a down right pain at times, it is worth it.  When I am consistent with juicing and working out I feel my best, and since I try to be real with you I’ll confess I’m not always consistent, sometimes life gets crazy and sometimes I get lazy and complacent.

I’ve lost 50 pounds and kept them off until the last few weeks when I’ve gained back 5 pounds thanks to a couple of trips, birthdays and Thanksgiving. So this is the perfect time to get my act together, I need to loose at least another 50 pounds.

I have decided to commit to my friend Sharron’s, Fitness Team. It is a 4 week challenge…surely I can be consistent for 4 weeks? Especially since I am making it public. ;)

Here are my personal goals:

Disclaimer (*excuses*);

  • I am 46.  That does make it hard to loose…very hard!
  • I’ve started some perimenopause  symptoms so that really keeps things crazy physically.
  • I love to eat.
  • I hate to work out.
  • I am a real softy on myself…yeah, lack of self-discipline.  :/

I am allowing myself a feast day each week, which will usually be on Sunday. For us Sunday is our day of rest and our day of feasting. God wants us to enjoy the good and sweet things in life…just as long as they are not abused and become an idol (gluttony). It is all about balance and moderation.

Exercise:

  • Gym 4 days a week (40-45 minutes cardio, 15 minutes weight resistance)
  • Outside walk 2 days a week, non-gym days (45-60 minute walk)
  • Pool 1 time a week (at least 10 laps)
  • Pilates 2 times a week

Nutrition (nutrition is 70% of the battle):

  • Avoid sugar, white flour and white rice five days a week …
  • East totally raw foods and juice 4 days a week. This will include nuts and beans in my salads.
  • 100 ounces of water a day, every day!
  • 2000 iu Vitamin D each day

Other:

  • Pray for strength, wisdom and focus
  • Watch or read something related to good nutrition at least twice a week – motivation
  • Sit in the sun for 10-15 minutes a day when possible.
  • Go to bed by 10:00 every night

I will post updates every Friday.  Want to join in? :)

    Hello fellow teammate,
Great plan. I totally need to juice but I never do it. I hate cleaning the thing. I am eating lots of raw veggies instead even though that’s not quite the same.
