I've made these before for Christmas gifts and they are a big hit. I was recently at a local craft show and saw a gal selling rice packs that were small, as hand warmers. That is what I want to make for Christmas this year! They can also be filled with corn or flax seed, which may be more expensive. I've not heated mine that long before though (3 min's on each side). I liked the idea of making them for an eye pack for a headache! Thanks for the great ideas!

I've sold them at craft shows and festivals, and even online through our site. $5 for small ones and $8 for large.

Kathy, my husband bought me one of these at a fundraiser auction. I decided to use it kind of like an old water bottle, heat it up, place it in the bed where my feet go, and then crawl in. Keeps my toes roasty toasty all night long!!!! Thanx for the tip on making them.

PS.
I know you are a whiz at canning and preserving, and I wondered if you knew what to about preserving cabbages. I have quite a crop in the veggie patch and can only use so many...
Any ideas??
Thanks! Lian.xx

I heard about a lady who has a whole business based on making these things. So I decided once to see what the hype was about! Since I couldn't sew, I put some rice in a bag and tied it in a knot and put it in the microwave. It stayed warm FOREVER! GREAT idea!
