How to Make Live Greenery Arrangements

Rag Quilting

This will make a baby size quilt.

Supplies to bring:

  • 1 1/2 yards dark/print flannel
  • 1 1/2 yards light/solid flannel
  • Thread
  • Sewing Machine
  • Scissors
  • Optional:  1 1/2 batting, quilting rulers, rotary cutter and mat.
  • Sack Lunch

Soap Making

$30 per person/family (one family can make one batch)

If you are making a batch of soap bring:

  • Rubber gloves for at least one person in your family.
  • A large pot that is not aluminum.
  • Glass measuring cup
  • Large glass bowl
  • Wooden spoon and plastic spatula
  • 2 large towels
  • If you  think you will want to make this at home go ahead and buy a stick blender ($15) and bring it, it will save you a lot of time!
  • Bottle of essential oil, the type that is safe for soap.

 

How to Make/Can Jam and Vegetable Soup

The soup class will be a demonstration class only. Hand outs with instructions and recipes will be provided.

To make Jam Bring:

10 cups of berries, fresh is best, but frozen/thawed will work.

5 cups of sugar

1 box Pectin

Patchwork Quilting

This will make a doll size quilt.

Supplies to bring:

  • sack lunch
  • 2 yards 100% cotton- a mixture of different colors/patterns. Use scraps if possible.
  • 2 yards 100% cotton for backing
  • Throw/crib size batting
  • Thread, pins, needles
  • Sewing Machine
  • Scissors
  • Optional:  quilting rulers, rotary cutter and mat.

Sewing for the Home

Make 2 pillow cases with French seams

(French seams are a great technique to know for all kinds of sewing,

especially when making skirts.)

and a slip cover for a throw pillow.

This is a good class for beginners.

  • 1 yard of fabric for slipcover (this can be a half yard of 2 fabrics or 1 yard of the same fabric), a pillow to cover
  • 2 yards for pillowcases, and 1/2 yard of contrasting color, 1/4 yard of a third color. You can use all of the same color just to learn with (an old sheet would work for this).
  • Sewing Machine
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Tape Measure
  • Pins, needle, thread
  • Sack Lunch

  • Tips: # 3, #104, #352, #18 ( 16 or 21 will work too for an #18)’
  • A mixer, hand or stand
  • Sack lunch

Kitchen Sewing

Make 2 hanging dish towels and cloth napkins.

This is a good class for beginners.
