Learning Something New Today

August 12, 2010

I’m practicing a little of what I preach today; I am 40 something and still learning new things.

Fondant is all the craze when it comes to cakes. You will rarely find a cake in the Wilton Year Book that is not fondant.

I am old school and have resisted the fondant icing for years, but now I am giving in and learning this technique. It’s actually kind of fun, like playing with Playdough! :) I’m sportin’ my new apron Olivia made me, with hand embroidery on the front!!!

Check back tomorrow and see how I do for my first time. :)

And remember moms and grandmoms… us old dogs can and should still learn new tricks!

    Woohoo!!!!! Go, Kathy, go!!!

I think it is great even if you decide NOT to go with that icing. Every year I try to do something “new” in the kitchen. One year I started making my own salad dressings….the next year, I added homemade yogurt etc. I like to do a new thing yearly b/c it doesn’t overwhelm me and it keeps this 40 something hoppin’

    Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh! Go, Kathy, go!

Yea for you! If you do cakes, you can’t help but notice the fondant, can you? I’ve been resisting it too. I’ve only had it on a cake once, but didn’t think it tasted very good. Hope your’s is better! How did it turn out?

I’ve been thinking of trying to teach myself some kind of web design. Any suggestions on how to go about that??? lol

    Love the apron, btw!

    Blessings–
    Dana
