Lack of Christmas Spirit? Me too…

December 17, 2008

I apologize for the lack in post, I've been pretty busy on the home front, as I am sure all of you are as we prepare for the Christmas season.

.

With Olivia being out of town and other circumstances that just can't be helped (anyone else out there have strained relationships  :o / ?)  It has been very difficult for me to get in the Christmas Spirit. Which is not a good place (mood) for a Christian to be. Our 'mood' needs to be one of joy and celebrating life. That is not to say we cannot have bad days, after all, look at the Psalms, in one Psalm day David is up, praising God like crazy, and the next he is in fear and depression.

 .

When we start looking at our circumstances, we are not looking to God. We begin this self-pity trip (at least this is where I tend to go) and fearful for what the future holds; what if those strained relationships never improve, what if this, what if that…

.

It is then that I need to, as the song says, "turn my eyes to Jesus".When we rest in him, trust that He IS in control, that He is working on a much bigger picture, that must consist of a present purification of our my SELF, then I can find peace again, and even joy.

.

One of my favorite preachers is Steve Wilkins. He always points back to history, explains the present trouble, and points to the only Hope there is, Jesus Christ. That His love is great and He is worthy to be praised.

.

I encourage you to listen to his sermon about the Twelve Days of Christmas. After hearing it (twice), it helped to adjust MY attitude. I WILL celebrate the incarnation of my Savior, my only Hope. Today's troubles WILL come to pass, but Christ's love is everlasting!

Go to I-tunes, search for Steve Wilkins Podcast. Click on the one that says The Twelve Days of Christmas. IT IS FREE! Just cost a little of your time. :o )
