KABOOM!
April 14, 2009
So I’m sitting at the computer and I hear a crack and a huge rumble! I look out the window and see that the tree that is about 10-15 feet from my window has split and half of it has fallen. What a scare! Praise God it did not fall on the house or on all of our little guest we had a few nights ago! Praise God it did not wipe out our picnic pavilion.
This tree is…well um, was 4-5 feet wide.
THAT’S MY MAN! I am so thankful he is capable to take care of things, but the remainder of this tree is too big and dangerous, even for him.
Reckon how long before it falls? It is taller than out house is long. You can’t tell very well from here, but it is leaning towards our house. We’ve been looking for tree service guys ALL DAY! One quote was $3000!!! Our kids are farmed out for the night for safety reasons. Topics: Family Tidbits | 7 Comments »

Oh wow! I’m so glad that everyone is safe and it didn’t do more damage. Praying that you’ll be able to get the other portion of the tree taken care of asap!
Free firewood! Or pocket money if you sell it!
Praise the LORD for HIS protection over you all!
Isn’t comforting to know that HE was the one that allowed the limb to fall the direction it did and when it did? We had lightening hit 2 trees here…..KABOOM is right! It scares the livin’ right out of you!
Again, I am so glad you are ok. We’ll be praying you get he right “people and price” to take care of the tree.
Eek! Glad y’all are o.k.!!!! Hope you can find someone cheap to help you soon. I will pray that way right now.
Kathy, we are rejoicing that it didn’t fall on the house. That is scary.
Years ago, we had a tree that was in similar shape, and one large branch landed on our house, though thankfully caused minimal damage. Our homeowners insurance paid to have the rest of the tree cut down, as it was a liability. I was told by our tree guys (who also charged a few grand!) that the reason for the price was the fact that it was in bad shape and dangling over the house, and surrounded by electrical wires, and therefore it is a much scarier job, rather than just cutting it down haphazardly. yours seems to be leaning more than ours and is more over the house, so you may check with insurance.
blessings,
Kimberly
Wow! Nice photos. Blessings to you! Hope all is resolved soon! Two homeschooled teens I know took a tree down like that one. They watched all the YouTube videos they could find of people taking trees down and made notes of all the mistakes they saw, then figured out the best way to do it. They were successful, although their mom said she nearly died from fright, just watching them. I’m not recommending this method…
Good luck! Stay safe!
How is the tree situation going, Kathy? Have you found the right people yet to take care of the tree? After the LORD provides the right person and timing to remove the tree, I would love to see an after picture!
