It’s the Tiny Pushes
March 5, 2009
The world is moved along,
not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes,
but by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of honest workers."
Helen Keller
I love this quote by Helen Keller.
Helen Keller was truly an amazing woman. Her life was a life of true diligence. The huge hurdles she had to overcome to accomplish all that she did in her life was due to her diligence in perseverance, despite one road block after another!
If you have never spent any time reading about her it would be a great unit study for your family, especially if you have a child with physical challenges. We are fortunate to live in the same state as she did and have visited her childhood home. Here are a few resources I came across:

There are so many little things that NEED to be done every day, things that no one will notice when they are done, but are very noticeable when they are not done; everything from household chores, to child training, to showing affection for your spouse.
It is the tiny pushes of each day that really makes the difference, not a difference that is noticeable right away, but a difference that would not have been possible without the constant tiny pushes.
Do you know why they are called "pushes"? Because you have to push pass your. ‘I don’t really want to do this right now’ attitude and get’er done!

I like that! I need that reminder myself!
P.S. My family lives in Alabama, and I was telling my husband a while back we needed to get over to those Helen Keller spots.
Hi! Thank you for the free download of your book about daughters in the kitchen. I don’t have daughters, but have sons of marriageable age who will some day have wives, I hope. The way girls are today, they may hate being in the kitchen, as I did when I was young. I will use the information you provided. Thank you for your generosity. The blog party was fun, wasn’t it???
Skimmed your book about daughters in the kitchen and it is awesome — just packed with great ideas. Thank you again for your generosity.
Thank you for your encouragement. I have three girls and did not grow up learning homemaking skills and really want my girls to learn these skills while they are young. I am so impressed with Olivia’s blog and the maturity she shows in her way writing and the well researched information she provides. I hope my girls have that sort of maturity and wisdom at at that age. Thank you so much. Lyn Bennett
