Help Your Children Think and Grow

November 29, 2009

When I think back on all of the years of Christmas shopping,  years of spending WAY TOO MUCH and even going into debt to make sure the kids had a “good Christmas”, I want to kick myself! Foolish? Yes! Do I regret it? Yes! I think of all of the things that I bought that were so temporal, many things were just JUNK! All in the name of “Christmas”.

The holidays look different in our home now, not just because our kids are older 15-21, but because we have matured in all areas of our lives.

Now as a I look for a few choice gifts I look for items that they really need and that will last. I look for items that will help them grow in their skills, spiritually or in creativity. Olivia made a decision last year that she would only buy books for gifts. She looks for GOOD books that will encourage or instruct.

I encourage you to buy gifts that will help your children think and grow!

AMEN! One of my sisters only buys books too, and she always picks great ones for the girls.

Although Brandie wants a “real, live pony” for Christmas, I’m so thankful that they are happy and appreciative of everything they do receive.

    Blessings–
