Giving Generously – Learn to Give with Pure Motives

November 13, 2011

“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart,

not grudgingly or of necessity;

for God loves a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians 9:7

I don’t know anyone who does not enjoy giving a gift. There is something satisfying in knowing that you brought some happiness to a person.

Learn to Give with Pure Motives

  • Giving gifts can turn into an ugly selfish thing if you are not careful.  A person’s true affections and loyalty can not be bought. If you are trusting in a gift to secure or deepen a relationship it won’t be long lasting.
  • If you give a gift expecting gratitude you will be disappointed from time to time.
  • Learning to give with the pure motive of love, no strings attached, takes some self-discipline.  This is so important to live out for yourself and make sure you teach it to your children.

To be a generous giver and not break the bank it usually takes a little of your time, but no more than if you were out shopping all day. Think of the time and gas that is spent shopping, and in all reality your gift will be forgotten within the year.

When you choose to be a generous giver, investing some of your own creativity and labor, it increases the value of your gift even more!

You CAN give great gifts even if you are not very creative.

Planning now will save you a lot of stress later!
