Giving Generously – A Christmas without Regrets
November 17, 2011
I admit, I have always had some regret after the holidays season, spending too much, stretching myself physically and emotionally so thin that I could not really enjoy the season.
In my constant efforts to cause Christmas wishes to come true, ’make memories’ and establish traditions it was easy to loose site of what was really important. Looking back I wish I would have just sat still more and feasted more on just being together.
This year our immediate family has decided to just give 1 gift to each other. For us, Christmas is not about getting or giving gifts that are NEEDED as much as it is giving something special and thoughtful.
I am working on some handmade gifts for friends and extended family, but all of my other time will be spent rejoicing in the meaning of the season… and I hope the LORD will bring us some special way to give of ourselves where there is a need. But for our family, the greatest need is just to be still and enjoy each other!
In what ways are you planning to have a Christmas without regrets? How can you be a generous giver without getting carried away in the hustle and bustle?
To be a generous giver and not break the bank it usually takes a little of your time, but no more than if you were out shopping all day. Think of the time and gas that is spent shopping, and in all reality your gift will be forgotten within the year.
When you choose to be a generous giver, investing some of your own creativity and labor, it increases the value of your gift even more!
You CAN give great gifts even if you are not very creative.
Planning now will save you a lot of stress later!

So come on…share your inexpensive gift ideas! When you link up I will add your link/idea to theGenerous Giving page.

I went to the dollar store and bought those plastic ice cream serving cups (the ones that are tall and look like a sugar cone on a stand). I swirled up matching fuzzy socks to make it look like ice cream. I poked in an ice cream scoop and a silly straw. Wrapped in cellophane they turned out really cute. All the grown up girls in the family get one This blog gave me the idea:
