Kathy

writer, video producer, wife and mother at Teaching Good Things
Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

Well, with 9 kids and a birthday every year, I could probably put this to good use. :)

I clicked over here from Infarrantlycreative. My son have made gingerbread houses together and I have always discussed signing up for a cake decorating class at JoAnn and have never been able to due to either the time they were offered or financial constraints. It would be nice for us to do something together that we would both enjoy.

We always make our birthday cakes here, just regular box cakes. Would be fun to learn how to make them better. My daughter is in 6th grade and loves to help in the kitchen, so this would be a fun thing we could do together!

I learned a few years ago that when it comes to crafting with kids, perfection is not what you are striving for. The little imperfections are what will make memories. I love to craft with kids mine and others and would love to win this DVD to get a better knowledge of decorating cakes. Spending time cooking and crafting with the kids is a great way to bond the younger and older generations together. I love the “new” secrets I hear when I am with the kids. (once one of those secrets saved a group of girls from a very bad situation, thank the Lord we were doing nail art that day)
I also came over from Beckie’s site.

I’ve always wanted to take the classes offered at our local “hobby” shops but our schedule just won’t work out right now! How wonderful to be able to learn such a useful skill at my own schedule! Fingers crossed…!

I grew up in a family of 9 children, 6 of us girls, and I’m about the only one that can make any cakes. BUT I don’t always have a great receipe and know just how to make a really pretty one. I’d love to win this and also teach my 8 yr. old granddaughter I raise how to make cakes too.
Thank you for having such a great contest.
