Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

Gentleness vs. Harshness

This month our family is learning the character trait of Gentleness, using the book,  Achieving True Success: How to Build Character As a Family .

Gentleness vs. Harshness
Gentleness is showing consideration and personal concern for others.
I WILL…
· Show good manners.
· Reject violence as a solution to my problems.
· Look for ways to ease the pain of others.
· Not annoy or irritate others.
· Be a peacemaker.

Each of the kids and myself have a 3-ringed binder we use for morning lessons. In that binder are page protectors. As we learn new songs, character traits, memory verses, etc… we each get a copy for our binder. This way everyone has a copy in front of them and we can review previous memorization. This also makes a great way to document their work and a keepsake for them! :) In the mornings I say, “OK, get your binders!” and they know it’s time to get school lessons rolling!!!

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17
