From Dust Ruffle to Apron
May 20, 2009
We spotted a beautiful crib size dust ruffle at the thrift store! Olivia and I immediately thought APRON! All I really had to do was add the bib, straps and a pocket. I used the surger which saves a lot of time.

When you see a fabric you just love think of ways to use it other than what its being used for at the time., sheets, curtains, and table cloths a wonderful!!! I used a table cloth to make my kitchen valances, I wanted them to match my table cloth!) I even look at dresses/skirts that would be good for a sewing project or quilt.
Be creative and resourceful with what you already have!

I LOVE to to do sewing projects with fabrics from other things! Some of my favorite places to “find” fabric are sheets, tablecloths, curtains, etc. I look for them at thrift stores and yard sales all the time.
Some of my favorite dresses were made from sheets. They don’t wrinkle and just get softer and softer with each wash.
Dana (who is off to do some sewing in just a minute!)
You’re really bragging about that serger aren’t you? I am just a “wee bit jealous”.
I love the apron! I’m inspired. We just bought new sheets so I could do all sorts of things with the old ones.
What a little doll wearing that apron!
I love that! I totally do that too – recycle fabric. One of my favorite skirts is made from an old flowered sheet. I love how cool and crisp and soft and pretty it is – probably 20+ years later. It is the best – I always look for old sheets at yard sales.
Channie LOVES her new apron. She LOVES her Miss Kathy too..:)
What a true blessing and delight it is to have you as a friend..
love,
Robin
Thank you for letting my weirdness be normal. I love to look at things and see something else!! My friends think that that is soooooo unusual. Thank you for sharing this!
