We’ve been busy outside taking advantage of the little bit of warm weather and sunshine we’ve had, so there hasn’t been much fiber arts going on around our house. However, I have been sneaking in spare moments of crochet here and there as I’m working on a bonnet for a church friend who has a baby girl due near the end of June. I’m enjoying playing around with different crochet stitches to give the bonnet texture. So much fun, and since it’s a small project, it doesn’t hurt so bad to rip it out when I’m not happy with how it’s going. :) Lord willing, I’ll share some photos when it’s finished.

Thanks for hosting, Kathy; still praying for all of you down in Alabama. Blessings, ~Lisa

I can’t wait to see the bonnet Lisa. I know one lady who made bonnets for each of her babies and they all hang on a wall now…it’s so precious!

I have been knitting up a stack of dish clothes both for me and for gifts. It helps me to be much more patient and willing to sit during homeschool time if I have something in my hands. I am a big fan of anything that helps me be a better mommy.

My two children and I are working on our individual quilt blocks that we call Black Ships Before Troy. We read a book actually a couple of years ago called Black Ships Before Troy: The Story of the Iliad by Rosemary Sutcliff. I want them to have something to help them remember some of the stories we have enjoyed during their years of home education. Now, if I can find another quilt block depicting something we’ve read either from the Bible or another good book.

I’ll send you a picture or two as soon as we finish up. This is their first quilt block.

I would encourage everyone to read the ladiesagainstfeminism.com post and participate in the “sewing bee” for the Crawford and Lee families.

I figured things were pretty busy for you. I have a few things to share, actually.

I finished a quilt for my daughter. I posted about that here: http://frugalideasfromtheparsonage.blogspot.com/2011/05/homemade-gift-quilt-for-my-beautiful.html

I also finished another vintage sheets quilt for an ongoing Etsy order. You can see that one here: http://frugalideasfromtheparsonage.blogspot.com/2011/05/another-vintage-sheets-quilt.html

Thanks for continuing this link-up. You all are some of the few people I “know” who actually do these kinds of things, too. I enjoy seeing what everyone is working on!
