Teaching Good Things, Practical Skills for Real Life

Equipping Families with Practical Skills for Real Life!

Fiber Arts Monday- A Noble Woman!

Last week I put together 2 baby quilt tops, I hope to get them quilted today or tomorrow and post a tutorial next Monday!

I like to think the noble woman of Proverbs 31 may have been a quilter of some sort (or maybe she was more of a weaver?), either way she was a fiber artist! :)

She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

She makes coverings for her bed;

Proverbs 31:13, 22a

Fiber art is anything that includes stitching, weaving, quilting, sewing, rug making, crocheting, knitting, spinning, etc…

Each Monday we can share ideas, patterns, finished projects and ask questions about fiber arts in the comment section.

You can also link up to your blog post or photo account that is related to fiber arts, I just ask that you link back to the most current Fiber Arts Monday post. Just leave your post link in the comment section and tell us what it is.

So how ’bout it? Do you have a project you are working or want to work on? Let’s share some inspiration!

Titus 2:3 says that we are to be "...teachers of good things...". We believe that part of these good things are practical skills that we all need in every day life to care for our family and neighbors. One of our primary responsibilities as parents is equip our children with the skills and tools to one day be productive, well rounded adults. Children need to be exposed to many different areas of work. Not only should they know how to work, but they should want to work. May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

My current projects are being put on the back burner to make activity packs for my almost 3 year old who was already anxious to join us at the table for school last year! (Which she did to color and do other little projects).

This summer I am redoing her daily project boxes with things for her to play during school time to include more things like playing to learn colors and numbers, so I am playing with lots of felt, ribbon, glue and popsicle sticks to get ready for the start of school.

I’m in the process of redoing my sewing/crafting room and switching it with the school stuff so my actual sewing has also been put to the back burner. However, I’m motivated to get it finished because I want to actually *work* in the room!

Painting is next–the color is called Aqua Chiffon. I’ll have to post pics when it’s done. In the meantime I’ve also painted a couple pieces of furniture a nice antique white. Can’t wait for it all to be DONE!

    Kristy,

You sound like such a FUN MOM!

    Dana,

Because our house is so small I am constantly trying to find better ways to get organized. Olivia took it upon herself to “organize” our utility/pantry/laundry room. That actually meant she threw a BUNCH of stuff away. I was pretty irritated at first, but now I’m loving it… AND we were able to set up a very small sewing area in there. Having it all decluttered makes me want to get in there and actually get something done!

Can’t wait to see your pictures.
