Emma’s First 5K

October 24, 2009

Our friend Robin wanted to do something to help celebrate and remember baby William’s life. She chose to take part in the Covered Bridge 5K and asked that others join her. Emma took on the challenge and has been training all summer to take part in her first 5K, she did a great job!

Grief is a hard thing. It is kind of like training for a race. When you are walking through the deep valley of grief you will have days when you don’t want to get want to get out of bed, get dressed or even smile. You have days when you feel like you will never stop hurting and that dark cloud will always be over you. You even have days of wondering, ‘What’s the use in even trying’. Just as with running there are plenty of days you don’t want to put those shoes on and run. It hurts to train and you wonder if it is really worth it.

It is good to take your hurt and focus on something good, something constructive, to help you push through that pain. The important thing in life, no matter what trail you are running through, is to finish well!
