Designing a Deck – A Real Life Math Project

Last week I shared these really cool videos on how to build a deck. Here is a link from the Lowes website that will allow you to put in the dimensions and location of a deck, then it will calculate how many boards and other supplies you will need. It’s really neat!

This would make a great real life math lesson, let your child design the deck, then figure how much it will cost; this may include a trip to the lumber yard!
