Creativity within Truth
March 10, 2009
Now that we have covered the topics of RESPONSIBILITY andDILIGENCE, we will move on to the topic of CREATIVITY!
Creativity is not just about making things, it is about finding different ways of looking at a situation.
~Discover more efficient ways to complete a task with greater quality.
~Approach a conflict or problem from a different perspective.
~Take what others view as useless and make it useful.
Here are the "I Wills" from Character First:
(I like to pint these out and post them on the refrigerator)
* I will use my talents for good
* I will see things from more than one perspective
* I will use principles to solve problems
* I will learn all I can
* I will look for new ways to be a person of character
For by him were all things created,
that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible,
whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:
all things were created by him, and for him:
Colossians 1:16
Mankind was created from the dust of the earth. We were created to glorify God in all we say and do. God commanded us to take dominion, subduing the earth. To do this He gave us an ability to think things out and solve problems; it is all a part of how we take dominion. Unfortunately, many people become wise in their own eyes and forget God’s commands and principals as they seek new ways of doing things.
Being "creative" does not mean you are free to do what ever you wish to achieve the goal. Our creativity must reside in the boundaries of God’s law.
One extremely relevant example today is the HUGE spending bill just passed by our government. Our economy is in a desperate state, mainly because we have forgotten many Biblical principals; but passing a bill to cause MORE debt is not wise, it is opposite of how we are told to live. We need some creative men that will be able to communicate to our people a way to overcome this crisis without making it worse.
Finding different ways to solve problems takes creativity, within the boundaries of truth.
