The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect
but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity.
The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.
C. Jung
When I read this quote I thought about how much I love to do my own thing, especially when it comes to cake decorating or crochet.
After learning the basic techniques of any skill you can build on that and create your own designs/patterns. And when you have created your own finished piece it is so much more rewarding than if you would have just followed the directions.
Consider the bend of your child; not so much what YOU want them to be interested in/good at, but what they actually have in them. Take that, find tools that will give them the foundations that they can build on, using their own creativity.

I LOVE that quote! Just might have to print it out and hang it somewhere that I can see when I’m “working”.
